I have to say I am really impressed!  I can’t believe how many people have already done SURTEX review blog posts – I’m a bit slow on the up-tick this year apparently!  What can I say?  My trip home was horrific and it took me a few days to recover from the time change and lack of sleep due to my 3:30 am arrival… or at least that is my excuse and I’m sticking to it.

So what did I think of SURTEX… overall:  great show, glad I went.

Here is a list of random, less-than-scientific thoughts about why I say that that would make many a business person and accountant shudder:

1.  While the traffic seemed a bit slower than years past, I had great conversations with almost all of the people I spoke with.  Quality is what counts most!

2.  I have a TON of follow – up to do and I’m excited about all of it!  Coming home busy = sign of a good show.

3.  I came home exhausted.  OK – that’s partly due to the extra 6 hours in Chicago due to weather and my return home at 3:30 am but I would have been tired anyway… another good sign.

4.  I’m entering a lot of new contacts into my database software.  That means I’ve made new contacts – yup!  Good sign!

5.  Adding some new companies too!  While I’m a big advocate of SURTEX as a venue to meet with current clients in person at least once a year, I also like to add some new prospects to the roster and do each year.  I’m SUPER excited about one in particular… fingers crossed and I’ll let you know if it pans out…

6.  I’m excited to be working, creating and participating in the art licensing industry.  The artists are awesome.  The manufacturers give me creative challenges.  I feel so fortunate to be able to make a living doing what I love.  Thank you to everyone who came to say hi and those who helped me through a few much-needed bathroom breaks when I was alone… each booth might represent a different business but I love how we all support each other as needed.

The show is over, the costs are “sunk” and now it’s time to channel our inner Rumpletilskinz and spin the leads into gold!

Wishing everyone that exhibited at the show much success and hope to see you there next year.  My sister and I have already had a few conversations about what went well, what could be improved and what we might try next year… this truly is a year round process for me. 🙂

Here’s to your creative success!
