When I’m searching for new solutions – software to help me solve a problem, make my life easier, work faster and more efficient, I often feel like Goldilocks – many choices, many that aren’t quite right…

What if Goldilocks were buying a bike.  A tricycle would have been perfect when she was a little girl – just the right size for her growing legs and new sense of independence.  When you are starting your art licensing business, you might use index cards or software designed to manage personal data for your business.  And when you are starting out, it will work and it will be cost effective.

Do you think large licensors like Disney or Garfield or Harry Potter would survive with an index card system for managing their data?  Absolutely not!  They’d need the Harley Davidson of data management software systems – top of the line with all the bells and whistles.  This exists, but it’s too much, has too many features the Goldilocks solo-artists don’t need and certainly costs too much for most of our budgets.

Now let’s talk about the bicycle.  A traditional bicycle fits the average teen and adult for most of their lives.  You might buy a fancier one if you want to bike around the Alps, but for most, a bicycle works.

The Art Licensing Manager is the bicycle of data management for artists.

It organizes the data of your business (art, copyrights, contracts, submissions…  licensees, contract dates, royalties…).  It’s flexible in that you decide how you enter your data and their are “notes” areas in many places for the things that don’t quite fit a data field but that you want to remember.  It doesn’t cost as much as a Harley… or a tricycle.

I hired Hal at CampSoftware.com to program the Art Licensing Manager.  We are now partnering and offering the software to any artist who is ready to graduate from basic organization systems to something more powerful.  I spent over $1800 having it created – a license will cost you just $250.  For agents or larger studios, you might buy the license as a starting point then hire Hal to add any modifications that you might need for a larger business.  (Upgrade your bike as it were!)

On November 17, 2010 – Hal and I did an Ask Call that explains in more detail (55 minutes) what data you need to organize and how the Art Licensing Manager Software does it.

You can download the video to your computer and watch the replay of the live event. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD

You can download a trial copy of the software so you can enter data and see exactly how it works and decide if it will work for you before investing a penny.

We also offered a special deal – anyone who purchases the Art Licensing Manager before the next Ask Call on December 15, 2010 – will receive a 2 month Starter Membership to the new website – www.ArtLicensingCommunity.com – a $54 value.
