I just got an email about a new feature coming to LinkedIn – by the landing page it looks like it isn’t available for every member yet but I’m not sure…
In their words…
Don’t just say it. Display it.
Now you can add your work to your profile. Showcase everything from portfolio pieces to presentations to videos.
This looks like it will be a great new feature for artists!
Here is the link to see a little bit of what is to come >> http://www.linkedin.com/portfolio
I will definitely be checking this out when I finish up this deadline… has anyone tried it? If so – share your thoughts and experience!
Here’s to your creative success –
Tara Reed
I have been doing something similar to this on LinkedIn for awhile. I put photos of my art/books in the “Projects” section of the profile.
I just tried this out yesterday, and I like the way it works. I already had a couple of portfolios on there from an external app, but this was much easier/faster. Plus the way LinkedIn allows you to add samples of work under each position you have held is great. I am also an illustrator and designer, so this was a quick way to add examples of what I do, and easy for a prospective client or company to judge my skills.
My LinkedIn profile if anybody wants to see what I mean: http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=15571306&authType=name&authToken=kiH5&locale=en_US&pvs=pp&trk=ppro_viewmore
The two images at the top were from an external app, and you only see a single image for each series (click to open series). The new LinkedIn system is embedded within the resume, and show as many images as I added right up front. Plus when editing, I could drag the images in each section around to see some larger (top line of two) and the others smaller (2nd line automatically is three) until the thumbnails look best.
thanks for the feedback Lisa – looks great!
I started using this portfolio inside Linkedin a couple months ago because Behance (an external app) stopped “playing nice” with Linkedin. I like it much better. I just post everything under “Summary” because I like my work to show up at the top of the page. I can also see Lisa’s point in adding different kinds of art under the corresponding position she held.
