Do you feel like there is a catch-22 in art licensing --
you need to have a large portfolio or clients to get an agent?
Would you enjoy interacting directly
with manufacturers who
license art,
and not have someone in the middle of communications?
If so, read on… |
|
|
The goal of the eBook How to Find, Interact and Work with Manufacturers
who License Art is to teach you what it takes to represent yourself. |
|
Did you know...
• Agents get 40-60% of royalties in exchange for handling your sales, marketing and contracts. They take a lot off your plate -- both in terms of work and money.
• If you enjoy working directly with clients, you only need half as much work to make the same amount of money if you do your own marketing.
• You don't have to have an agent to get your foot in the door with manufacturers who license art. You just need to know three things: |
|
| |

2. How to get their attention 3. How to work with them

From the e-desk of Tara Reed,
Licensed Artist
(Portland, Oregon) Dear Fellow Artist, |

|
I assume that you have read "my story" on the home page of this site. If not and you want to, click here. As I have said before, I truly believe I have the greatest job - I love it 98% of the time, how many people can say that? Another in a series of eBooks about licensing your art, How to Find, Interact and Work with Manufacturers who License Art teaches you what it takes to do the sales and marketing side of your business.
| |
 |
I will readily admit to having a slight advantage over some artists. I have a degree in Marketing and was in sales. I started out comfortable interacting with decision makers. That doesn't mean I love to pick up the phone every day. It doesn't mean I don't get discouraged too. I have a system, I believe in myself and I keep working towards my goals. |
|
I would like to share my experience with you. I love working directly with clients and being in charge of the direction of my business. Maybe you will too. I enjoy teaching others how to do what I do. The beauty of art is that we all have our own style and no one person can do it all -- so there is no need to feel a huge sense of competition. I've developed a wonderful network of friends and colleagues, in addition to building a business, and I wish the same for you. This book covers the basics to get you up and running. From building systems to organize and find your information to suggestions about what to say on the phone, it's sales and marketing 101. I need to warn you though... you may read this book and decide you do not want to do what it takes to run the business side of things. And guess what?
That's ok. |
|
|
No matter what you decide, you will walk away with a better understanding of what you, or an agent or an individual you might find, need to do to successfully market and represent you and your art. I personally guarantee
that you will find the eBook helpful in starting or growing your business. After all, I learned all of this building my own business. If you don't agree after reading it, you have 60 days to request
your money back, no questions asked. Ready to get started? |

I just finished reading Tara Reed's latest eBook, "How to Find, Interact & Work with Manufacturers who License Art", and I must say, it covers every possible scenario involved in handling your own licensing career.
If you're not sure whether you can or want to handle your career yourself, or need to elicit the expertise of a licensing agent, this book will help you decide. All facets of contacting and working with manufacturers are explored and explained with professionalism and humor from someone who has experienced it all.
I was sure I needed an agent, but after reading Tara's book, I think I have everything I need to handle my own career.
