I love my Mac! But lately I’d been getting some sluggish behavior and more “rainbow wheels” than I cared for. Slow processing and reactions – especially when I was using Photoshop – was slowing me down. I began to wonder if it was time to upgrade the computer…
While chatting with Matthew Bookspan about the new version of Daylite contact management software I found myself sharing my slow-Mac woes.
He suggested a $60 fix for sluggish Mac performance that I thought I’d pass onto you.
We looked at the memory in my computer and how much it could handle. I had 4 GB in the machine from when I bought it and I had 2 empty memory slots. For about $60, I bought 2 memory cards that added 8 GB of to my computer – bringing me up to 12 GB. I’m not sure I’ve had a rainbow wheel since…
I ordered the memory cards online at www.MacSales.com. (I have no vested interest in you going there but loved the site) You pick your computer and it will tell you what will work. They even have videos to show you how to install it – “easy peasy” as I like to say!
SO… if you want more power for your programs, check and see if you think this might help you as well!
Here’s to your creative success!

I just had an experience that sped up my mac. I’ve had my mac for about 4 years now and it was having some problems. I’ve used this machine for everything work and personal and I’ve installed lots of applications, many of which I didn’t use anymore, and had many files come and go. I decided to wipe the hard drive and reinstall (after a good backup of the files I wanted to keep). So glad I did. Seems that I had a lot of applications running in the background that were slowing things down, and I think all the lingering files and settings from old programs were also causing the wheel to show up more. The computer feels nice and clean.
Very nice tips. You can get rid of slow Mac by adding more RAM or by cleaning Mac drive because it helps you to remove all caches, duplicate files, binaries, language files etc. Stellar SpeedUp Mac is one of the most demanding cleanup software which can remove all rubbish things from your Mac and make it fast.
